Can cats eat pepperoni? Yes of course they can! The world doesn’t consist of just one type of food and it’s up to you what you give your cat. Our cat can eat pepperoni slices, pepperoni slices with cheese, pepperoni pizza, and we even cook him turkey pepperonis (he loves them!) and he never complains.
For the most part, including a little bacon in your pet’s diet is a really good thing to do. Just make sure it’s cooked first so that there are no harmful bacteria left in the meat for your feline friend. What does your kitty love eating? Let us know in the comments!
How often can cats eat pepperoni?
If the answer is “all the time!” then you need a new cat. We don’t think a normal cat’s digestive system would be able to keep up with a diet of pepperonis.
Why not just have them have a little slice of pepperoni once in a while? Pepperonis are high in fat and they aren’t good for your cat’s health. You can definitely have your kitty eat just one slice per week without ruining their stomach, but only every few days.
Pepperoni slices are fairly easy to feed to your cat. The grease will make the meat go down easier, and it’s really not very often that they need to eat a slice of pepperoni.
They can have them after they have their dinner or even while they’re eating. Just don’t force them to eat them if they aren’t hungry, maybe just offer it once in a while for treats or something else that they might enjoy instead.
Is pepperoni toxic for cats?
The answer to this question is absolutely not, pepperoni is not toxic for cats, and if their diet consists of other foods as well then there’s no reason why they can’t eat it.
Just like humans (and every other animal on the planet), cats need protein in their diet to survive and they can get that protein from pepperoni.
But it is recommended that cats owners should not make it a big part of their diet, because it’s very fattening and if you want your little friend to live a long and healthy life then we don’t think eating too much pepperoni is a good idea.
Do note that some cats are allergic to pepperoni so if your cat shows any symptoms of allergic reaction after eating pepperoni then please do not feed them anymore of it.
It’s also recommended that you do not feed your cat any raw or frozen meat. This is toxic for cats, especially raw meat. Cats on the other hand, love cooked meat and they would love pepperoni just as much as you would!

How to prepare pepperoni
The following can be done in the oven, in the microwave, or on the grill.
For cooking in the oven: Line your cookie sheet with tin foil and spray it with non-stick cooking spray. Put your cooked pepperoni slices on it and when cool enough to handle, wrap them up into a little package for your cat. You can do this with any other cooked meat or you can even do this with cream cheese!
You can also bake your meat patties in an aluminum pan. Line the pan with aluminum foil (to prevent sticking) and spray it with non-stick cooking spray. Press the meat into a patty and then put it into the oven for about 15 minutes on 350 degrees. The foil and cooking spray will keep them from sticking and you can just cut them up into little chunks once they’re done.
For cooking in the microwave: Line your dish with a paper towel or two and lay your pepperoni slices on it. Make sure they aren’t overlapping each other, so microwave your pepperonis for about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes per slice (depending on how thick they are) on high power. Before serving, let them cool down a bit before you put them into another dish for your cat to eat.
For grilling your pepperoni: Apply the pepperoni slices to the grill. Grill for about 10 minutes per side on medium-high flame.
As with any other meat, you can then cut them up into chunks or strips and put them into a bowl to serve on top of some plain rice or pasta (rice works well on both sides of the border).
Benefits of pepperoni for cats
The benefits of feeding your cat pepperonis are pretty much the same as feeding your cat any other type of meat. It’s high in protein so it will definitely help with muscle growth and overall health. As long as you don’t over do it with the amount you give them then they will be fine.
Pepperonis are also high in fat (about 31%) and it is very important for your cat to get fat in their diet, because it’s necessary for them to be able to live a healthy lifestyle.
What are the side effects of overcooking cats with pepperoni?
The truth is that overcooking meat for your cat is not good for them. If you cook your pepperoni too much then it could start to get mildewed or even rotten in the yard! Also, letting cats have raw meat can cause bacteria in their stomach lining which can cause deadly infections to them.
So just remember that there are many other good options for cats to have in their diet besides pepperoni. You can feed them with cooked meat, cooked vegetables, fruits, even cooked chicken or turkey. There are plenty of great cat foods out there that you can buy, and although pepperoni may be good for cats it’s definitely not the best mix-in to mix with their food!
How to store pepperoni
Storing pepperonis outside of the fridge is not recommended because they can easily get moldy and rotten. If you’re going to store them out of the fridge then make sure to put them in an airtight container so they stay fresh as long as possible! Also, it’s a good idea to check the smell before feeding your cat just in case it’s starting to rot or mildew on you.
If you’re going to keep your pepperonis inside the fridge then it’s okay to keep them there as long as possible. The truth is that they will never go bad even if you put them away for a year and then decide to use them. It’s definitely a good idea to check for mold and mildew but if there’s none, then you can use all of the pepperonis in your fridge because they can last up to two years!
How do I get my cat to eat pepperoni?
Cats will definitely like pepperoni if you start them out young and get them used to it.
